Textile fabrics woven using different weaving techniques.
Textile fabrics are materials produced through processes such as spinning, weaving, and dyeing, using either natural fibers (such as cotton, wool, and silk) or synthetic fibers (such as polyester and spandex). They are widely used in apparel, home furnishings, and industrial applications.
The raw materials for textile fabrics are mainly divided into natural fibers and synthetic fibers.
Natural fibers such as cotton, wool, silk, and linen generally exhibit excellent moisture absorption, breathability, skin-friendliness, and environmental sustainability.
Classification of Textile Fabrics
Soft fabrics are typically lightweight and drape beautifully, with smooth, flowing lines that allow the garment’s silhouette to unfold naturally.
A simple method for identifying the composition of garment fabrics is the burn test.
The procedure involves drawing a strand of fabric—comprising both warp and weft threads—from the seam edge of the garment, igniting it with a flame, observing the characteristics of the burning flame, smelling the odor emitted during combustion, and examining the residue left behind. These steps allow one to determine whether the fabric composition matches the label’s stated content, thereby verifying the authenticity of the material.
